2 Chronicles 5:7
The priests then brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim.
2 Chronicles 5:13-14
And when the trumpeters and singers were joined in unison, making one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they raised their voices accompanied by the trumpets and cymbals and [other] instruments of music, and when they praised the Lord, saying, “For He is good, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever,” then the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud.
So that the priests could not remain standing to minister because of the cloud; for the glory and brilliance of the Lord filled the house of God.
The finishing of the temple marked the final resting place of the Presence of God. It makes sense that David, a man of bloodshed, was not permitted to build Gods resting place. David’s reputation could have potentially marred that of the temple, for where Gods presence rests, there is peace. Solomon, Shĕlomoh in Hebrew, meaning peaceable, was given the task of temple completion.
After placing the last piece, the ark containing His Presence, into position, Gods people worshipped. They worshipped in song. In the words of Jonathan David Helser, they raised a Hallelujah, and as they did, His Glory filled the house.
The knock you off your feet kind of Glory.
Fast forward, to Jesus. Peace is placed in a new temple. His abode was in a bod. As Andy Stanley says, God in a bod. And upon his ascension, Jesus (God) gave His disciples the gift that He possessed. The gift of peace.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give you.
John 20:21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
That same peace, is a piece, of the deal in our souls salvation package.
The peace gift is unwrapped at the moment of our invitation for His habitation.
God with us. God in us.
The enemy has one target when it comes to the offspring of God, our peace. He will steal it, kill it and destroy it, by any means possible.
But we have a weapon. The finishing of the temple marked Gods resting Presence of peace, and the celebration of the finish, gives us a clue in how to perpetuate the promised gift.
Praise. Our weapon, a melody.
Psalm 50:23
He who offers a sacrifice of praise honors Me and to him who orders his ways aright, I shall show the salvation of God.
As we offer a sacrifice of praise in our predicaments, His Glory fills our human temple.
Praise brings Presence to the impossibility. And where there is Presence, there is power. The knock hopelessness off its feet, kind of power.
Hopelessness flees where praise is present.
Praising in the impossibility, IS a sacrifice. Thanksgiving where there is peace requires little faith, hence little sacrifice. But those who raise a Hallelujah in the midst of the chaos, are given a promise in Psalm 50. A promise of salvation. Salvation in the form of rescue.
Choosing praise in the problem, invites His Presence, and positions us to see the promise.
Our praise procures His peace within us. We are His traveling temples.
