Search and Rescue

Psalm 139:23-24 TPT                                                   God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart.  Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares. See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me back to your glorous, everlasting ways- the path that brings me back to you.

Psalm 32:6-9 TPT

This is what I’ve learned through it all:                 All believers should confess their sins to God; do it every time God has uncovered you                in the time of exposing.                                           For if you do this, when sudden storms come, you’ll be kept safe.

Lord, you are my secret hiding place,                   protecting me from these troubles,                         surrounding me with songs of gladness!               Your joyous shouts of rescue, release my breakthrough.                                                              I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway to yout life. I will advise you along the way         and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.”

We are hiders by nature. Born with the innate desire, actually. That wasn’t His original design; however, one choice to sin led to our birth into fear and shame. The rescue from Heaven released us into the birthright of living loved and protected, but the enemy of our souls desires us to feast upon lies. He knows our birthright. Just as Esau, we often trade in the Truth of what we posses as children of the King, for the immediate gratification of a paupers meal. We chose to daily consume spoonfuls of discouragment from our circumstances, fear of rejection, unforgiveness for the wound, seasoned with selfishness, pride and unbelief, then question why our souls feel so empty and the abundant life so allusive.

Psalm 32 and Psalm 39, provide a pathway for our successful search and rescue. Our invitation for God to shine His searching light upon our hearts, ensures our delivery from danger.

 Confession constructs a safe-haven.

Humility is the framework of holiness. A refusal to see and confess our sins, once exposed, actually prevents us from our rescue, because pride becomes our shelter.

Pride serves as a barrier to our redemption. His desire, since the Fall, has been to rescue us from the effects of sin. Rescue occurs when we rely only upon the guidance of our Guide. That guidance, actually rests upon our willingness to walk in humility.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Humility unlocks the promise of Presence.                                                                                                                                                                                            Courageous confession brings the promised protection of His eye upon us. His eye guiding us onto paths of righteousness and peace. Freedom and abundance. The uncovering of our sins, enables us to rest in the refuge of His Presence. We willingly run toward Him for shelter when we have nothing to hide.  As we exit from hiding, we enter into our breakthrough with His songs of rescue.
